INSTRUCTIONS & GUIDELINES SHEET
Welcome to the Pumpkin Carving Contest!
We are excited to see your entry and share your submission with our panel of judges!
Overview
Campus groups will carve and decorate a pumpkin that represents their group. Pumpkins will be graded by judges, based on creativity,
how the pumpkin relates to their group, and the quality of the carving and decorating (see complete grading rubric on back). Students
and employees can participate! All pumpkins will be on display Thursday, October 27
th
, between 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Central
How to Register/Participate
1. Register in the Student Life Center DCTC Club or Athletic group, October 20 at 12 p.m.
2. Pick up your pumpkin to use for the contest in the Student Life Center on Tuesday, October 25
th
(or for DCTC Club or Athletic
group, buy your own pumpkin and get reimbursed up to $20 for your pumpkin and supplies. See Student Life staff for details).
3. Submit your completed entry form and finished pumpkin to the Student Life Center by Thursday, October 27
th
at 9 a.m. Pumpkins
will not be accepted without official entry form.
4. Come back to visit the pumpkin display in the Central Commons October 27
th
between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
5. Entries can be picked up between 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, October 27
th
.
Contest Guidelines
Carve and decorate a pumpkin that represents your group.
There will be three categories: (1) DCTC Club or Athletic group, (2) Student Groups, and (3) Employee Groups.
A portion of the pumpkin MUST be carved; it cannot solely be decorated.
Winners will be determined by a panel of judges and campus vote.
Groups must register by October 20 at noon in the Student Life Center.
One pumpkin per entry
1. Student Life Guidelines (clubs/organizations/athletic teams)
Clubs, organizations, and athletic teams can participate. Each group is allowed one entry.
A monetary allotment from the Student Senate will be awarded to the groups in 1
st
, 2
nd
, and 3
rd
place, in the amounts of $300, $200,
and $100, respectively.
One award of $50 will be awarded to the group receiving the most votes by the campus.
Three awards of $50 will be awarded through a drawing of groups participating. Groups who place in the top three will not be
eligible for the drawing.
2. Student Guidelines
Teams of students wishing to enter are encouraged to participate. Each group is allowed one entry (e.g., students in a shared
academic program or class could participate).
Student groups must be at least three people.
Prizes TBD will be awarded to student group winners.
3. Employee Guidelines
Campus departments, academic programs, or committees are encouraged to participate. Each group is allowed one entry.
Human Resources is sponsoring fabulous prizes for the groups in 1
st
, 2
nd
, and 3
rd
place, and the group with the pumpkin receiving
the most campus votes.
